The biggest Chrysler show in the Southern Hemisphere celebrates its 25th anniversary, with a full program of events kicking off in Wodonga from this Friday 17 – 19 March.

Event co-ordinator Rod Taylor from the Albury Wodonga Chrysler Club is confident this weekend’s event at Gateway Lakes on the Lincoln Causeway will rival record numbers seen last year, when 730 Chryslers roared into the region.

“Entries are well up this year, with about 500 pre-entered” Mr Taylor said.

“This is a special event being the 25th anniversary this year – the show just keeps growing and getting stronger every year. Never in our wildest dreams did we think this small volunteer club could produce such a popular event for 25 years.”

This year, there will be a focus on celebrating the Chrysler Valiant.

“We’ll celebrate 55 years of the ‘R’ series Valiant, with the R & S featured, bookended with the CL & CM series,” Mr Taylor said.

The program includes driving events at Logic Centre, judging at Gateway Lakes Wodonga, a cruise to local destinations Ettamogah Pub and Hume Weir, a Show & Shine and seminar at the SS&A Club.

This year will also include tech seminars featuring Rick Ehrenberg from Mopar Action Magazine in New York, considered one of the world’s leading authorities on Chrysler technical information.

“Some people come to this event for the swap meet, it’s probably the best Chrysler swap meet in the country for parts,” Mr Taylor said.

“Others come to have their cars judged, or to go cruising on the Saturday afternoon. The feedback is that it’s a great, relaxed weekend.

“I had one vendor last year say it’s their little ray of sunshine, for one weekend, to get away, not think about work and enjoy their passion with other like-minded car enthusiasts.”
