Students from Corryong Secondary College have played a leading role in a media production to help raise disability awareness within Towong Shire.

My Life, My Disability is a story about inclusion, and includes interviews by students with individuals and families who share their personal experiences and need for continuous support.

It’s estimated that 32.7% of Towong Shire residents experience a form of disability.

Towong Shire Councillor Jennie Star says the short feature film is an important resource to give local people who are experiencing disabilities a voice.

“The messages in this production are heartfelt, and the stories are an incredible summary of resilient rural people who just ‘get on with the job,’ Cr Star said.

The media production was fully funded by the Department of Health and Human Services and supported by Gateway Community Health and will be used to help attract funding and further awareness.
