Rutherglen Estate’s 2017 Arneis, has been awarded the Trophy for Best Emerging or Alternative Varietal or blend at the Victorian Wine Show.

Chief Winemaker and General Manager Marc Scalzo says the recognition is fantastic for the Rutherglen winery.

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this trophy for the second time,” he said.

“Arneis is one of our Italian varietals that is doing very well for us in Rutherglen. It is a fantastic win which is developing a real following.”

The Victorian Wine Show was established in 1981 and is the only show on the national circuit promoting wines made from grapes grown and produced purely in the state.

It is designed to bring the quality of Victorian wines to broad public attention and attracts more than 750 entries each year.

“We are constantly raising the bar on ourselves in terms of quality” Marc said.

“It’s always gratifying to have the outside world tell you that you are on the right track.”
