Get out and about this weekend around Albury Wodonga. Here are five starters for you!
Scenic – Paragliding, Bright
Get set for a seven day cross country paragliding competition based around the Mystic Flight Park in Bright.
Look to the skies around Bright, Porepunkah, Buckland Valley, Gundowring and Mt Emu to see 100 of the top paragliders form Australia and overseas compete for the first place trophy.
The event carries high value world ranking points on the World Pilot Ranking System and allows pilots to gain Paragliding World Cup selection and thereby entry into higher ranked competitions worldwide.
Explore – Beechworth Hidden Wineries Trail
This weekend, select group of wineries in Beechworth throw open their cellars (sheds, barrel halls, gardens and vineyards) for visitors.
Take in the exceptional summer views while exploring these world class wineries right on your doorstep.
Haldon Estate, Baarmutha, Indigo Vineyard, Weathercraft and more. Some have picnic facilities where you can enjoy the grounds, others have a cellar door set within their winery.
Family Fun – Exhibition, Hairy Maclary creator
The Albury LibraryMuseum is honouring one of the world’s most popular children’s authors, with an exhibition and activities celebrating the works of Hairy Maclary creator, Dame Lynley Dodd.
Hairy Maclary and other characters, Slinky Malinki, Bottomley Potts and Scarface Claw, will be featured in the exhibition of more than 50 original artworks by Dame Lynley.
There will also be a special Hairy Maclary Family Fun Morning on Saturday 8 February from 10 am – 12.30pm, and a chance to meet the author when Dame Lynley visits Albury in March.
Music & Culture – Gather Festival, Mt Beauty
Gather Festival is a brand new music, arts and cultural festival raising money for its local community coming to Big Hill Mountain Bike Park, Bogong High Plains, Mount Beauty on Saturday 8 February, 10:30am – 10:30pm.
The Gather Festival is a one day event bringing a number of artists to a hillside amphitheater in the high country. Showcasing live music, locally crafted beer and wine, delicious food, boutique market stalls and more, summer in the valley never looked so good. The day is a celebration of music, arts and culture. It reflects the ancient history of the area, the migration of the Bogong Moth and the bringing together of local people.

The markets are at Gateway Village, Wodonga Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm.
