The boutique winery on Lake Hume, that’s captivated Australia’s hamper market, Posh Plonk, has expanded its offering.

The winery has released its first rose’, just in time for Christmas.

“Ultimately, this rose’ is two-and-a-half years in the making,” said Posh Plonk owner Matt Daly.

“We wanted to make sure we could complement our range with something a little bit different. We have two reds and two whites, so to have an addition like rose’, which seems to be very much on trend at the moment, is very exciting for us.”

A large portion of the Posh Plonk rose’ has already been snapped up by hamper organisations which appear to have fallen in love with the local drop.

“It’s been a fascinating journey,’ Matt said.

“We created a brand to stand out in restaurants and wine bars in Australia and then about a year-and-a-half ago we had an amazing take up from hamper organisations from all over Australia wanting Posh Plonk in their hampers.

“They were looking for a high end Australian experience with wine for their customers, so 70 – 80 percent of our wine now goes to hamper organisations.

“Our motto is hand-picked, hand-crafted and hand-wrapped and the wrap for our wine in particular has been a real hit, because it’s entirely different, in a very competitive market.”

The rising success of Posh Plonk was recently recognised when it was nominated as a finalist in the Victorian Tourism Awards for Best New Tourism Business.

With Christmas celebrations ahead of us, Matt is happy offer some recommendations for impressing guests at the dinner table.

“The vintage sparkling, or sparkling of any nature is always popular over the Festive Season,” Matt said.

“We find people that want to have something special on the table on Christmas day enjoy our vintage cuvee, that’s been a real hit.

“A reason we wanted to launch our rose’ as well ahead of Christmas is that it’s a summery, vibrant drink that really pairs well with seafood, chicken and turkey. A lot of people really enjoy a good rose’ and we wanted to create something that’s a step above, that’s why it’s taken so long to get there.”
