Before you pop the champagne cork for New Year’s Eve, the host of Albury Wodonga’s new champagne house Lush Bar, shares some tips to make your bubbles extra special.
Albury Wodonga now has its own champagne house, Lush Bar at Albury’s SS&A Club.
Venue host Ash Gill shares his city style knowledge after spending the past few years in Melbourne in the events industry, including at a nightclub roof top bar.
“I’ve jumped in to help create something different that isn’t offered locally,” he said.
“There isn’t a space like this, a champagne house, that you can sit back and relax in such a nice setting, with no televisions and no live band.”
Promotions and Marketing Manager, Alison Brown says the new bar has already proven popular.
“It’s a bar that promotes the Moet & Chandon brand, as well as Verve,” Alison said.
“We want to create an experience around the service, somewhere nice to meet friends after work or on a Friday or Saturday night, maybe enjoy some of our beautiful cheese boards in a more intimate setting.”
For those hosting a New Year’s Eve party at home, Ash is happy to recommend some easy cocktails, with Chandon as the star ingredient.
Champagne Cocktail
“Into a glass you place a sugar cube soaked in 6 drops of bitters, then you add 30mls of brandy, topped up with Chandon and finished off with a lemon zest.
“It is quite refreshing, but still quite a dry beverage.”
Bellini Cocktail
“Another cocktail that is popular here is a Bellini, where a fruitier flavour comes through.
“It’s 30mls of apricot nectar, topped up with Chandon and then we add a garnish of a peach wedge – but any fruit will work.”
For those who prefer Ash and his team to mix your drinks, Lush Bar is offering a New Year’s Eve warm up event with a glass of Chandon on arrival and canapes from 7pm – 10pm for $25. Bookings at SS&A reception.
