This year’s Write Around the Murray festival program has been launched, with special guests presenting A Man Called Yarra, an inspiring story of overcoming hardship and striving for a better life.
A charismatic Yorta Yorta man, Stan ‘Yarra’ Yarramunua grew up with an alcoholic and abusive father.
Yarra had a rough and sometimes homeless childhood and was in and out of trouble constantly. He too became an alcoholic, before swearing off the drink to become a highly successful Melbourne artist, actor, musician, businessman and charity worker.
‘the extraordinary and sensitive stories that made him who he is’
A Man Called Yarra is Stan Yarramunua’s newly released biography, written together with Robert Hillman.
As Stan’s biographer, Robert was entrusted with the great responsibility of helping Stan translate into written form, the extraordinary and sensitive stories that made him who he is.
Bookings are now open for Write Around the Murray festival events.
