Looking to hit the slopes? Here’s what you need to know as Falls Creek prepares for the opening of the ski season.
After a week of cold weather, conditions are building for a promising season at Falls Creek, with locals encouraged to support the resort for the opening weekend.
Sarah Watt, Director of Marketing and Communications at Falls Creek Resort Management says the signs are encouraging.
“We had some great snow come in during that storm this week,” Sarah said.
“We have an average base of about 20 centimetres of natural snow and of course the snow making has been happening the past few weeks.
“As disappointed as we are that Melbournians can’t come and join us this weekend – we understand the Victorian public health measures – we’re really excited for regional Victorians and those in the border bubble to come and join us this weekend and get their feet back on the snow. We missed out last year, we have to make the most of it.”
Visitors to the resort are encouraged to pre-purchase their resort entry before coming up the mountain.
“There’s going to be some snow play for the kids – unfortunately the toboggan slopes are looking a little light on and we have a couple of chair lifts open for those who want to put some planks on your feet and head out on the slopes, you’ll be able to get a few turn ins,” Sarah said.
“We’ve also got a fantastic range of food and beverage venues to sit in, have a hot chocolate by the fire and enjoy your burger and chips with the kids.”
