Following a successful inaugural event in 2018, Victoria’s most innovative wedding event is set to return in 2019, and it’s right on our doorstep.
Love + Light Wedding Festival offers a unique opportunity to view on-trend bridal looks on the runway (wine in hand), experience five fully styled, wedding-ready venues and meet a carefully curated selection of 30+ creative wedding vendors. Think opulent, stylish and a little bit epic!
Held in the beautiful scenic surrounds of Rutherglen, Love + Light Wedding Festival is staged over a summer’s weekend and happily eschews the traditional ‘wedding expo’ format to provide creative inspiration and practical know-how for lovebirds from North East Victoria and the Riverina – or those from Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney looking to escape the city for their dream wedding.
The initiative was founded in 2018 by Festival Director Georgie James, a seasoned wedding photographer who wanted to support couples to create a day that says, ‘This is us’, whilst celebrating businesses in the Rutherglen region (and encouraging punters to buy local).
“When I started as a wedding photographer in the Rutherglen region five years ago, I assumed there would be plenty of resources to help couples find cool spaces and suppliers to make planning their wedding enjoyable,” Georgie said.
“I realised how difficult it was to find an industry event in this region that was inspiring. Plus, our region desperately needed a wedding industry event that celebrated our local talent.”
Georgie had also noticed more and more couples choosing to forgo traditional weddings in favour of personalised celebrations, so she sought to make the process easier by connecting them with a selection of carefully curated wedding experts able to pull off memorable bespoke ceremonies and receptions.
“It was my mission to create a well-run event with heart and soul,” Georgie said.
Guests can get up close and personal with 25+ vendors who will be on hand to offer expert advice on everything from make-up, cakes and photography right down to the nitty gritty of the wedding planning process.
Whatever a couple’s vision for their day – from an eclectic afternoon soiree to an ethereal bohemian love-fest or a chic after-dark affair – the weekend brings together all of the people and all of the inspiration in one (beautiful) place. Oh, and there will be wine. Lots of wine.
